About Ortus Fishing Charters
Ortus Charters has two USCG-certified captains, Mark Welcome and Scott Yelle, who are lifelong friends with a love for being on the water. This friendship and love for fishing led them to start Ortus. We love to share our experience from fishing the waters of Cape Cod with our guests. We have been fishing around Cape Cod for over 20 years.
As Ortus Charters Captains, we take safety very seriously. It is a top priority in every one of our fishing and boating excursions. Our boat and gear is safety inspected by the USCG.
We are based out of Wellfleet, MA and specialize in striped bass, bluefish, and bluefin tuna. We also fish for fluke, haddock, cod, and black sea bass when in season.
We will depart from various local ports from the mid to outer Cape as we use our local network of Captains to find the best locations to fish that day. Our goal is to have the shortest amount of travel and the greatest amount of fishing time.
We currently run a Cape Horn that is 32 feet in length and can take 1-4 passengers, depending on the type of fishing excursion. The boat is powered by twin Suzuki Marine 350 hp engines that are new in 2026. We will provide all the gear and licenses for the trip, as well as provide a cooler to place your beverages and lunch.
